Women at the Core: TVS Indeon Honoured at IESW 2026’s Women in Energy Segment

TVS Indeon is honoured to have been recognised and felicitated in the Women in Energy segment at India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2026, hosted by the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) in New Delhi.

This recognition reflects an approach we have built from the ground up. Women make up more than 80% of our workforce across manufacturing, engineering, operations, quality, and other key functions, placing inclusion at the heart of everything we do.

We see this recognition as belonging to every woman who has contributed to our progress, and it strengthens our commitment to changing the narrative around women in manufacturing. This is only the beginning.

At the Women in Energy Forum 2026, held alongside IESW 2026, Anshika Premi, our Brand Strategy Lead, represented TVS Indeon and shared how our inclusive approach to manufacturing is driving business excellence.

Women at the Core of Our Plant

This recognition is rooted in the everyday reality of our lithium-ion battery pack facility in Thervoy Kandigai, near Gummidipoondi, where women are not just present but central to how the plant runs.

Approximately 80% of our production workforce comprises women operators, many recruited from towns and villages across Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, and many entering industrial employment for the first time. All three of our production shifts, named Sudharshan, Chakra and Agni, are led entirely by women. This is not a pilot initiative or an occasional highlight; it reflects how the plant operates daily, across every shift.

Every woman who joins us moves through a structured, three-stage training programme before deployment on the line: Dojo Training for practical process learning, Classroom Training for theory and safety, and On-the-Job Training under the supervision of experienced team members. High-performing operators are promoted to Technical Assistant roles, supporting our Production Engineers directly, and our post-training placement support enables movement into other companies within the wider Lucas TVS group. It is this pathway, from first-time worker to skilled professional, that we believe the recognition at IESW 2026 was truly honouring.

Some conversations stay with you long after you’ve stepped off the stage.
Sharing our journey of building an inclusive manufacturing culture and learning from so many inspiring leaders across the energy ecosystem, was both humbling and motivating.

That same spirit of care carries into how we support every woman on our team, well beyond the shift itself.

Employee Welfare and Engagement

We provide employees relocating from outside the region with company-supported dormitory accommodation, including dedicated security and caretaker support. We also provide regular medical assistance, health monitoring, and access to food to support employee well-being. We conduct regular engagement programmes, including safety competitions, speech and drawing competitions, and cultural events, alongside structured recognition initiatives such as Best Performing Operator Awards. We organise team outings during weekly offs to support employee well-being and cohesion.

A distinctive element of our welfare model is the coordination we maintain between team leaders and employees’ families, which supports trust and continuity, particularly for first-time workers. Beyond the production floor, women hold leadership roles across our HR and welfare functions, and are well represented in Quality, Business Development, Finance, Security, and Facility Management.

About TVS Indeon

TVS Indeon, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lucas TVS, manufactures lithium-ion battery packs for electric two-wheelers, with a second line under development for prismatic cells to serve electric three-wheeler and stationary storage applications. Since commencing operations, production has scaled twentyfold, from 2,000 packs a month to over 40,000, sustaining a run rate of approximately 1,500 packs per day, a pace made possible by the women who form the majority of our production workforce.

Outlook

This recognition is a milestone, not a destination. We remain committed to strengthening the pathway that brought us here: continuing to hire locally, continuing to
train rigorously, and continuing to grow the number of women who move from first-time operators into skilled, supervisory, and leadership roles across TVS Indeon. That is how we intend to keep changing the narrative around women in manufacturing.
